Lakeland Trails in Hawkshead

Now in its 7th year, the 17km Hawkshead Trail (Race and Challenge) follow well marked and marshalled courses through some of the most scenic and varied countryside in the Lake District – Beatrix Potter country!
Starting from Hawkshead Showground (postcode LA22 0NN), the 17km Hawkshead Trail Race and 17km Hawkshead Trail Challenge follow a circuit along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways takes in panoramic views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding peaks of the Coniston Hills, the Langdales and most of the Lakeland fells. Underfoot conditions are generally good, for those used to off-road running. Check out the slide show of the course.
The 17km Hawkshead Trail is split into TWO events – the Challenge, for less competitive runners, novice trail runners and those who want to take it easy and enjoy the views. The Challenge sets off at 13.00 and you get an hour extra to complete the course. The Race sets off at 14.00 and is for competitive runners, with winners prizes and a shorter time limit.
The MoonWalk London 2012
12th May 2012 – London, Hyde Park
The MoonWalk is done either as a marathon (26 miles) or a half-marathon (13 miles). Entries are now open for this year’s MoonWalk but all the marathon places have gone so there is only chance to do the half-marathon. The cost of entry is £47.50 and can be done online or by downloading an application form at http://www.walkthewalk.org/Home.
The SunWalk London 2012
Sunday 1st July 2012 – London, Battersea Park
The SunWalk is also part of WalkTheWalk series of events to raise money for the fight against breast cancer.
The SunWalk is done either as a half-marathon (13 miles), 10K or 5K. The cost of entry is £27.00 and can be done online or by downloading an application form. Everybody who enters the MoonWalk and the SunWalk is asked to aim to raise a minimum of a £100 per person. There are many ways to raise money and you would be surprised how many people are happy to give you at least £5.00 for this cause.
